Spiced Asian Pears
Get into the holiday spirit with these easy spiced pears!
3 large Asian pears, peeled, cored, and chopped
1/4 cup water
1/4 cup dark brown sugar, plus two tablespoons reserved
1 teaspoon nutmeg
1.5 teaspoons cinnamon
1 teaspoon allspice
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 tablespoon butter
1. In a medium saucepan, combine Asian pears, spices, brown sugar, and water over medium low heat. Simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until Asian pears start to break down and become tender.
2. Remove pears from liquid and put in a small glass mixing bowl, making sure to keep liquids in the pan. Turn heat up to medium.
3. Whisk in tablespoon of butter and reserved brown sugar, stirring constantly until mixture starts to bubble and become thick, about five minutes.
4. Pour sauce over pears, stir to combine, and serve immediately.
