Tours and Outings

School Tours:

Every fall Easy Pickin's plays host to school children from around our area. We invite the classes in and welcome them to our farm. We take a wagon tour around the farm. We stop at the pumpkin patch to discuss how we grow pumpkins on our farm. The children then get to wander through the pumpkin patch and pick out their favorite pumpkin to take home. We grow just the right size of sugar pumpkins for the kids.

Next it's off to the orchard to learn how the apples grow. We have fully-dwarfed apple trees that are trained to a four wire trellis. Even the smallest child can pick his or her own apples from our trees. We teach the children how to pick an apple and allow them to pick three apples to take home.

Our tour ends back where we started and we refresh the kids with a drink. Groups are encouraged to bring along a snack to enjoy with their drink.

The cost of our tour is $3.95 per person. In order to defer the cost of chaperones we allow one person free for every ten that are paid. We limit the amount of groups per day in order to maintain the quality of our program. Please call the farm phone and leave a message for bookings. (860) 763-FARM (3276)

Outings:

Our orchard is the perfect setting for a family, church, small company, or group outing. We have tents and tables available in our beautiful outdoor setting. You can be informal and just gather your group, pack a lunch and come out during our normal picking hours (if your bringing ten or more, it's best to give us a call so we can hold some tables for you).

You can also make more formal plans with us for a wagon tour or scarecrow-making to be part of your outing. We can also arrange box lunches or a catered buffet for you. Even pizza parties have been a big hit at the farm. So give us a call or e-mail and we can do some creative planning to please your group.
