The Veggie Patch
Our vegetable patch changes throughout the season. Planting starts in our greenhouse in March, and continues out into the garden right through August. Each season presents its own unique weather challenges and we can't promise every vegetable to be available at any one time. But that is the wonderful part of locally-grown. You can enjoy the bounty of one vegetable in its season and then move on to the next as it ripens. The early season may bring such vegetables as peas, lettuce, green onions, beets, Swiss Chard, broccoli, and spinach. Some of these continue throughout the season, while other's depart until next year. The summer season brings the yellow and green squash, tomatoes, many types of peppers and eggplants, sweet corn, many different beans, cucumbers and more. Next we have the cabbages, kales, Brussels Sprouts, cauliflowers, leeks, turnips, carrots, and winter squashes. The vegetable patch also provides us with fall ornaments. We have small and large gourds, corn stalks, and of course, everyone's fall favorite -- Pumpkins!
